"Masters in this Hall" is a Holiday Concert featuring the Children’s and Youth Choruses of Collin County performing classical choral literature from the great master composers, such as Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, and Handel, as well as some lighthearted modern arrangements. This concert will be presented in two locations on Sunday and Monday, December 11 and 12.

Sunday, December 11th: The 6:30 PM concert will be presented at St. Philip's Episcopal Church, 6400 Stonebrook Parkway in Frisco. Admission is free, however, donations are appreciated.

Monday, December 12th: The 7:00 PM concert will be presented at  Custer Road United Methodist Church, 6601 Custer Road in Plano. Children receive free admission with each $10 adult ticket purchased at the door.

The Children’s Chorus of Collin County will be holding auditions for the Spring 2012 Season.  The Children’s Chorus is for students in 4^th-6^th grades, and the Youth Chorus is for students in 7^th-11 grades.

The Chorus is a non-profit organization and is tuition based.  Rehearsals are on Monday evenings, September - May in Plano.   Membership selection is by audition.

Each audition will take around 10-15 minutes.  It will be informal and no previous experience or preparation is needed.  The audition will consist of a short vocalizing session that will focus on the singing voice as well as posture and breathing.  There will also be a few exercises that deal with repetitions of vocal and rhythmic patterns, singing in parts, and sight singing.

Qualifications for membership in the Chorus are a clear singing voice, a strong sense of pitch, musical and vocal readiness, emotional maturity, good attitude, and ability to focus.  There must also be a commitment to regular attendance at rehearsals and performances.

I will ask your child to sing something for me without accompaniment.  They may sing something of their own choosing or a familiar song, such as "Happy Birthday".

I will tell you at the close of the audition whether or not your child has been accepted into the Chorus. If you wish to go ahead and make a commitment to the Chorus at that time, you may do so by signing a commitment form and paying a $50 non-refundable deposit which will be applied to the $250 tuition which is due on or before January 9, 2012.
